Hi, I'm Tamra. I have been receiving help for treatment resistant major depressive disorder
for nearly thirty years. I think, I maybe took nearly a decade to work out that I needed help!
I was an inpatient for many years, while we worked out the best way to help me.
This included CBT and lots of different medications and experimental treatments,
like transcranial magnetic therapy.
I now take regular medication, but also manage my mental health using exercise, mindfulness and sometimes, I need the extra help of getting electroconvulsive therapy, (ECT). I also use cold water therapy as an aid to mindfulness. It has helped me cope with having to discontinue one medication due to side effects that became intolerable, after a decade of use. I have been interacting with this page for over a decade, and was honoured to be invited to help create content and moderate the page, as a volunteer.
Since starting as a volunteer, I have discovered it has helped me immensely. I think this is due to having to take a step back from myself, in order to share things with the page and thus been easier not to get caught up in the emotional spiral that can sometimes occur during a flare.
Kelly Collinson - Social Media Content Creator for MMHP Instagram
Hey everyone! My names Kelly and I’m an admin here at Making Mental Health
Positive. I wanted to join MMHP as I wanted to share my experience
of mental health with others. I wanted to let others know that they are not
alone in their own mental health journeys and that MMHP is a place they can always turn to for
support. Not only is there admins here to help but members too who are friendly and offer advice and a hand hold when someone is struggling.
For me personally, I have suffered with social anxiety, general anxiety, panic and depression. I know how difficult it can be living day to day with these conditions. My aim is to just share the knowledge I do have, to share things that I hope will make people smile and to provide hope that things will get better. Hobbies are important to me for helping my mental health. I particularly enjoy singing, going out for walks, playing squash, crafting etc! I also enjoy studying and have completed a degree in psychology! I'm going to be doing my masters in clinical psychology and hope to help people with their mental health in a professional setting in the future.
Adele Thomas - Social Media Content Creator - Facebook Platform
Hi I'm Adele thomas I've been volunteering with Making Mental
Health positive since 2020. I am a content creator on the
Facebook page. What inspired me was the desire to help others
to explore their own mental health and how living with this shapes
and moulds us but doesn't define us. Stigma only exists if its
kept in the dark and shinning a light on this the only way to
make things change.

I’m Sally, I am a content creator and moderator for team MMHP.
I have struggled with my own mental wellbeing over the years but founding my little not-for-profit company has really helped me. S&L Safe Cut Kits puts together safety and prevention kits specifically designed to support individuals who are affected by self harm. This was due to my own child struggling with self harm and the vision to help other families trying to navigate their self harm journey.
